Rooted in growth,
guided with care,
supporting every season

Through therapy, caregiver sessions, and family support, healing begins to take root.

About Us

At Island Roots Therapy, based in Mercer Island, Washington, we provide compassionate, developmentally informed therapy for children, teens, young adults, and parents. Unlike many practices, we offer play-based therapy and include parents as active partners through parent sessions and skill-building support.

“When your child is struggling, parenting can feel exhausting and isolating. Therapy can offer support, understanding, and hope, helping families find new ways to connect, heal, and grow together.”

Our Services

  • A developmentally appropriate, evidence based approach that uses play to help express emotions, process experiences, and build coping skills within a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship.

  • A supportive, collaborative space where tweens and teens can explore emotions, build identity, strengthen coping skills, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

  • A supportive space where young adults can navigate life transitions, explore identity, and build a life that feels aligned, grounded and authentically their own.

  • Parent support sessions offer a welcoming space for caregivers to reflect, gain guidance, and feel supported in their parenting journey. They focus on strengthening the parent-child relationship while building practical strategies for connection, communication, and healthy boundaries.

  • A compassionate space where mothers are supported through every stage-from postpartum and early childhood through the teen years and into the empty nest. This work offers space to process identity shifts, navigate the emotional demands of parenting, and build grounded, sustainable ways to care for themselves.

  • A collaborative, goal-oriented process focused on clarifying priorities, building strategies, and taking actionable steps toward personal and professional growth.
